My second monitor is wont let me go to a higher resolution than 1920x1080. Any ideas to fix this or can my system not handle it?

What I have:
Window 7 Dell, graphics card NVIDIA Quadro M3000M. I have this in a docking station that has 2 displayport outputs so I have 2 displayport to HDMI cables going to 2 LG 34UM68-P monitors.

The main dispay monitor says 2560x1080(native) and the second display only shows me 1920x1080, nothing more. Is it possible to get the second to 2560x1080?

I also tried a couple other ways. My dock has 2 DVI outputs so I used DVI to HDMI adapter and I get same result as above. I tried without the dock HDMI to HDMI to one monitor and then Mini Displayport to HMDI to other monitor, same result as above.

Please help if you can.

DisplayPort to HDMI passive adapters are not all the same.

  • Type 1 passive adapters have a maximum of 1920 × 1080 or 1920 × 1200 @ 60 Hz■Type 2 passive adapters have a maximum of 2560 × 1440 or 2560 × 1600 @ 60 Hz[/*][/*]
Most likely one of your adapters is a Type 1 adapter.

You can also try setting a custom resolution; see Section 6.3 here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3675170/connect-120-display-construction.html

I check the cable the has the monitor 2560x1080 and from where I bought it say max res is 1920x1200, so that is weird. The other cable to second monitor is amazon basics with same max res.

I did notice there is a DP input on the monitors so would it just be easier and work for both if I just got DP to DP cables?

Yes, if your monitors have DisplayPort then don't use adapters lol
