Fellas, I bought a 800 mhz TBird CPU online and I have a question....I'm looking at the top of the CPU and it says 800 Duron. Would I be correct to assume that this isn't a TBird? This is my first AMD system and I want to be sure my ducks are in a row before I start yelling at anyone. Thanks.

well lets see... Athlon.... Thunderbird.... Duron... Amd makes all of these.... if you ordered a TBird, and the chip says duron... you probably have a duron... just a hunch

-AMD's are not for the faint of heart... Intels? those are for newbies 😱)-

yes sir send it back you got screwed. Are you sure that the add was for a t-bird? How much did you pay? Where did you get it from?

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

I ordered it from UpgradePlanet.Com in Virginia and paid $98 plus shipping ($6.40). Looks like they got for around $30 bucks. As you might imagine, I will be speaking to them today and post the outcome. Thanks guys.

I spoke to them today and they were real cool about it. They said they were shipping me the TBird out today and that I should ship the Duron back to them. But I think I will hang on to the Duron until I get the TBird in my hands, just in case. I'm supposed to have it tomorrow or the next, so I will let you know what happens.
