I just installed SP2 and now I am having difficulty using the built in
windows package to burn a dvd. I am trying to backup some folders, and I get
an error that says windows encountered a problem when trying to copy the
folders. When I hit the retry button, I get the same thing.

I also tried to use my Nero, but I have version 5, not the latest one. I get
an error that says something about Joliet names, whatever that is.

Any help will be appreciated.

Much love!

You would have had trouble burning a DVD using Native Windows XP tools
before SP2 as well - it's not supported.
User Nero.. Roxio.. Something.

The error means you may be trying to use names too long for the DVD type you
chose. Try a UDF instead of ISO.

Windows XP does not natively support burning to DVD. You need a 3rd party program such as Nero to do it. As for Nero, version 6.6 is out. You should consider upgrading, as there have been major improvements with this product since the 5.x versions.

Don't know about burning DVDs in XP SP2. I've never tried it.

A little reading of the Joliet (a form of ISO) options would probably be
self-explanatory in Nero. Its either a filename length or folder depth
problem. Believe version 5.5 was the first to offer DVD burning, but you
had to download and install the updates for DVD burning options from the
Ahead/Nero site.
