Dvd/cd drive dissapeared

when i installed drivers for dell 926 printer/scanner the dvd/cd was no longer listed as a device on my satellite c655 laptop. this has happed twice

does the 926 have a card reader? cos it might mount the card reader as the same drive letter as CD drive
