DVD damaged?

Has anyone experienced problems with a brand new DVD being defective? I just installed my Creative Encore 12x, and can play 2 of my 3 DVD's without any problems. The third one, a live music concert, plays the first 10 songs/chapters without any problems. As it tries to play any song/chapter after the 10th, it freezes.

I even tried PowerDVD...same problem. It has a neat little diagnostic feature that says the disk may be dirty or damaged. However, it's completely clean and has no scratches.

Any opinions/remedies would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, there is always the possibility of a defective DVD, as there is with CDs.

Get a nice cleaning kit, I have had this type of problem with a visibly clean disk, one round through the cleaner and it worked fine, has even resurrected disks I thought dead.

yes. A friend of mine just had that happen. We both bought superman on dvd. He could play the movie, but nothing else. Mine worked fine on the same hardware. He returned it and the new copy worked fine.
