DVD Decoder on my Radeon 9700 not being detected??

Hello, I'm trying to load my ATI Multimedia Software. Everytime it tries to install, I get these two error codes.

1. UCI not installed
2.ATI DVD Decoder not detected

What's wrong? I have direct X 9 installed and I thought the doggone thing had a built in hardware decoder.

Yes, they do have a built in decoder. I'd contact ATI as it sounds like a driver issue.

Your R9700 is made by someone else isn't it?

If it's not BBA you have to make sure you load THEIR software FIRST before you load your upgrades. ATI doesn't offer DVD support for their partners, that's up to the partners. If it's a BBA board (or even an OEM for that matter), then try re-installing the software that came with it and then add the newer drivers/MMC/etc. That should fix it.

Or dont bother with the ATI dvd thingy. I cant use it on my oem 9700pro so I use rade3d tweak to enable dvd accel and use power dvd.... Excellent quality compared to normal software mode...

Actually you can use it on your OEM (likely) I'll see if I can find the instructions somewhere. It's usually on your Install disk for your OEM card but a value in the intallation process is set to zero, like ATI=0 or something (hey it's been about a year since I did it [5 min. step]). Anywho, I changed that and it installed everything. I'll see if I can find the instructions again.

I have an pure ATI straight out of the box model. No middleman. I will try to contact ATI and see what the heck is going on. I might have to try that tweak. Where do I get information on it?

IF you have an BBA card you can't do it. The file is not on your install CD. Only OEM CDs (and I'm only certain about Sapphire's) the maker of my R9000NP.

So you will need to contact ATI. Try re-installing MMC. Also try an older version of the DVD player (not integrated) it may request your Install CD but should install ok, since it will just be looking for a valid disk.

No, no you're thinking of WDM not MMC. WDM also works on VIVO cards (which his likely still isn't) It's the MMc packs that have the DVD stuff. Infact on most install CDs it will have the MMCDVDxxxxxx folder right there up front. I also know this because I checked the patch (sent copy to Crash, and I'm gonna PM YOU too! ).
