Dvd will not play

Hello, cannot play dvds on my Dell Demension 5150/E510. CDs play but dvds never have. My email is roncmorgan@charter.net if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

You need to have a DVD codec installed... just because you have a DVD drive, it doesn't automatically mean you can play DVDs. Although since it is a Dell, it should have come with some sort of DVD playback software. Of course, I would also assume that you do have a DVD drive... because if you don't, you're not going to play any kind of DVDs regardless of any software.

Zoron is correct! Dell Dimension 5150 is a laptop with a CD drive. DVDs will not work in this drive.
