dvdrom drive not recognized

dvd drive not listed under mycomputer - is under device
manager with error code 19 - tried uninstalling and
rebooting - it sees "new hardware" but same problem
occurs - tried system restore with no change - any ideas?

Try going to safe mode and remove it.

If you just installed the drive then I suggest you check the connections and
the jumpers for the drive as well as the jumpers for other drives installed
on the same cable.

Furthermore, if you use cable select for one drive do it for both and make
sure they are installed properly. Master at end of cable and slave on the
middle connector.
