I have purchased a new computer that has a RTX 4070ti. The issues is that I have an older monitor that only has DVI and HDMI plugs, and the gfx card only has HDMI and Display Port (DP) outputs. Without looking much into it, I purchased an HDMI 2.1 cord thinking that I could achieve a 144 hz refresh rate, problem is that the monitor's HDMI input only allows up to 60 hz refresh rate. I have been searching the internet for a DVI male to DP adapter that offers 144 hz. ALL of the cords that I am finding only support 1080p@60hz. Before I start the hunt for a newer 144/240 hz monitor, I just want to check if there are any DVI MALE to display port adapters that offer up to 144 hz refresh rate. (I have found 120 hz adapters but they are Display Port to DVI Female and I want the full 144 hz)

P.S - I thought this would be a much easier task to find a cord/adapter that could deliver 144 hz being that I have a 144 hz monitor. Does the difficulty finding a adapter that allows 144 hz refresh rates have something to do with the protocols of each type? (ie DVI and DP) I'm struggling to fully understand why 144 hz adapters for these types are not more common being that both DVI and DP inherently offer refresh rates up to and above 144 hz

These are not cheap. You need something like this. They have to be DVI *dual-link* to DP

https://www.amazon.ca/StarTech-com-DisplayPort-Adapter-Converter-DP2DVID2/dp/B00A493CNY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1513520995&sr=8-5&keywords=displayport+to+dual+link+dvi&th=1

Generally speaking, considering the rate at adapters like these die, it's typically a better long-term decision to update the monitor.

And you need DP *to* dual-link DVI, not the other way around. The signal comes *from* the GPU and goes *to* the monitor. These do not go both ways.
