e3-1230v2 to e5-1650v3 worthwhile upgrade?

Hello!
I'm quite satisfied with my system at the moment but I have an opportunity to upgrade my processor for cheap.

I would be upgrading my e3-1230v2 to an e5-1650v3 for about 100-150$ (including mobo/ 16gb ram change).

My current system is:
e3-1230v2
16gb ram
hd 7870

I do gaming and virtualization stuff. My current bottleneck without a doubt is the gpu and I plan to update that quite soon, probably to a gtx 1060 6gb.

Now my question is would it be worth it looking towards the future (or near future)? If I understand correctly, I would mostly gain power in rendering/editing but would the "new" processor give me a longer lasting system in gaming as well?

Any downsides?

I'm reading those two as being completely different sockets, you'll need a new Mobo and RAM too.

As I said in the OP, the MOBO and RAM are included in the price. So the WHOLE COST for the going from system 1 to system 2 would be 100-150 dollars.

I'd say go for it then. Clock speeds are slightly faster.
