Hey all,
First, here's my system:
E4300
Gigabyte 965P S3
1 Gig (2x512) CORSAIR XMS2 DDR2 675 (PC5400)
CoolerMaster eXtreme Power 430W PSU
PCIE Leadtek PX6200TD (Geforce 6200) Vid Card
Stock Cooling
I currently have my FSB set to 266 (2.4 GHz) Stock Vcore and have run orthos for a while and Here are the temps:
Idle:
TAT 59C, coretemp 44
Orthos small FFTs full load:
TAT 66C, Coretemp 53C
First, I think that my idle temps are a little high compared to what I think most people get. I am thinking this might be because I didn't put new TIM on when reseating my cpu so maybe the TIM isn't very even or has small bubbles in it. Eventually I will get me some TIM and reseat it after cleaning off the heat spreader.
But anyways, here's my real question. My computer runs just fine in Win 2K, even when running orthos at FSB 266. Have never seen any signs of errors or freezing, everything seems fine (and temps aren't all that high). But when I reboot, the computer will reset itself back to stock settings. It will do this even with FSB 220. FSB 210 seems to reboot fine. So my question is, if everything runs fine in windows, what criteria is the system using upon startup that causes it to reset back to stock? Why would it run fine in windows only to not post on reboot? Especially when it does this even with the FSB 220? I probably haven't done enough experimenting with Voltages to find out what exactly is causing the resets, but still, if my computer will start up and boot into windows and run fine at FSB 266, stock Vcore when I first set it, why would it reset the bios during a reboot?
Thanks in advance!
