Can you guys look at my readings and give me some feed back.

Notice the difference between the core temps of speedfan vs. core temp - I'm not sure which one is more accurate?

Computer specs:

Motherboard:

FSB clocked to 1480 right now
8G DDR2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR2_SDRAM (I'm only using 4 right now)
I'm only running 2 Graphics cardshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_card at the moment in SLI mode

This is an easy one--only because I faced the same situation over the last few days.

CoreTemp has the wrong TjMaxx. Up until this week, it was agreed that 95 should be TjMaxx for an e8400 (i.e., 45nm). Literally, there is now discussion over the last few days by the creators of these temp applications, and they concur that 100 is the best number to use for TjMaxx. You need to adjust coretemp accordingly. This will bring you in line with what you see in SpeedFan.

You may also want to download Realtemp, as some consider it to be more accurate. You can adjust TJMaxx in the program.

I am getting slightly higher temps, but my 8400 is OC'd to 3.925. Mine has about a 5 degree difference between cores, and is typically around 40 or so at idle (for the hottest core), but low 50s during stress testing. Some spikes go up to high 50s, but that is rare.

SpeedFan is likely pretty accurate in your situation (even if only by happenstance). I had to adjust Speedfan to match Realtemp/Coretemp. I think your temps are fine for 100% utilization.

Good luck!

Husky thanks for the info..... makes me feel a little better about my temps now. I have realtemp and loaded it with a set TJmax at 100 and I'm running 38C at idle on both cores.

Okay I found the offset in core temp and set that to a -5C which brings the overall TJmax setting to 100 as you posted and the temps are almost identical and 37 - 38C idle.
