E8500 or E8600

Hello,

i have a evga 680i a1 motherboard.
even though i know i should upgrade to 1155, i want to wait a little bit longer. I currently have e6400 cpu. I know the mb can handle a quadcore, but looking at reviews and the price point its at Im thinking about getting a E8500 or e8600 cpu. then do a little OC. run it like that until the new chipsets are introduced in the fall/winter. Any suggestions? thank you.

Either one should get you close to 4.0 GHz, even with a 680i motherboard. In fact, I have an E7500 running at 4.1 GHz in an old G'byte EP35-DS3P.

Both are good and can racked up to 4.0ghz.

Price is your main concern between the 2 CPUs, just get the cheaper one.
