Battlefield 3, Diablo 3, Skyrim? I don't really have any upcoming time to bother with EA and their "I'm sorry" shenanigans. As for now, I'll keep doing what I've been doing, CS:S, LFD2, and TDU2.

i'm all for EA focusing on the PC, but not if all they're doing is pumping out sequels for established series. How about some new IP? I loved Mirror's Edge, but that's the only truly exciting original IP I can think of from EA at the moment. I'm just so effing sick of sequels...

"EA also has an obvious interest in free-to-play gaming, pointing to the model's success over in China."

1. Its not free to play as the article states. They use microtransaction so that would suggest to me that you no longer get any free content created by other people. I liked being able to download maps for Unreal, Quake and Doom. Seems like the game will cost more than $60 as you continue to play, but I suppose this new generation will love the idea and never know how nice it was to have your own copy and start your own server and make your own maps.

2. China has strict policy on what can and can't be played or featured in games. The US games in china have things removed and some games are banned completely. I don't think they have high expectations about games as we do here in the US. Lord of The Rings is banned in China and several other games like Doom and quake, etc. I wouldn't boast about some success in china and think the US customer base will swallow the same crap.

used to be a PC gamer back in the day. It started way back when Doom, rainbow six, and Unreal Tournament. You just get tired of spending more money in order to play newer games. Spent 400 on a video card just to play FarCry, Doom3, HL2. I gave up once Crysis was released. It's consoles for me now.

Where was this renewed enthusiasm for the PC market when EA decided to cancel the PC version of Alan Wake? I'd been waiting for five years for that to come out.

[citation][nom]HavoCnMe[/nom]At least EA is not as greedy as Activison...You can go out and buy BFBC2 for $19.99. CoD:BO is still $59.99. Activision is the spawn of Satan when it comes to game costs.Best Buy BFBC2: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Battle [...] &lp=3&cp=1Best Buy CoD:BO: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Call+o [...] &lp=4&cp=1Target BFBC2: http://www.target.com/Battlefield- [...] ombrowse=0Target CoD:BO: http://www.target.com/Call-Duty-Bl [...] ombrowse=0[/citation]

I wouldnt be so quick to fawn over EA pricing of BFBC2. The reason they aren't trying to fetch 59 dollars for it is they know they wont move many copies. Activision is practically printing money with the CoD series and have no reason to lower their price as they still sell quite well. BFBC2 is a better game but that really doesn't matter. CoD is geared towards the more remedial gamer anymore which greatly outnumber skilled gamers.
As far as EA shifting their focus to PC, I will believe it when I see it. They wasted no time in making the Madden series unavailable to PC gamers to name a notable and will always follow the money.

For some reason, see them focusing more on games like angry birds for PC type games, instead of ground breaking games like crysis or half-life and the like. I dont see much of a leap forward in PC games until the new xbox comes out. All this cross platform support holding PC games back, imhop

man i can't bel;eve there are people on here saying the PC was never popular. they seriously must be like 10 is just hitting puberty PC has always been popular for FPS, RPGS, geez back in computer collage we alwasy had LAN parties going with Quake and half life. games like starkraft the craclk of pc games starcraft i can go on.

PC gamers are so delusional, every time I read these comments I laugh so hard. First of all PC graphics are not that much better than what you get on current consoles, they just aren’t. And whoever said you can build a better pc for the same price as a console is clueless, let me see how beast of a machine you can build for $300, lmao. I game on all platforms and have for the past 20 years, if you don’t see the fun/value in console gaming you are a PC snob. You basically limit yourself to a handful of titles and miss out on over half the games out there. All you do is complain about consoles getting the attention and game prices, it’s the same thing all the time. Anyone who is that big of a fanboy of any gaming system or platform is an idiot in my book and only limits themselves in the end.

First step: Dramtically improve Tiger Woods PGA for all platforms (especially the PC). Develop a course architect program (for the PC) that is included with all versions, that is fully documented so everyone can figure out how to use it. Make it so custom courses can be played on all platforms.

...to the hardcore console gamer.

lol...they almost got me.

oh dear!..

[citation][nom]dco[/nom]I bet if schools taught kids how to build and troubleshoot computers instead of how to use MS Office you would see a shift in the market. Specially considering the price of a console versus what kind of computer you could build yourself with that same amount there is no comparison.[/citation]

You can build a much better system for more than the price of a Wii. You cannot build a decent gaming computer for the price of a Wii. Consoles will always be cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

And really, you need a class to learn how to build/maintain PCs? People are ignorant to PCs by choice. It isn't that it's hard to build a PC, it's that console players don't want to put ANY effort in.

BTW for those saying "PC gaming is popular", in terms of SALES, PC gaming isn't popular. Money makes the world go round, so sales are what determines popularity, not the quality of the games. If it's more profitable for a company to put their game out on a console, they probably will. They are in business to gain a profit, not to satisfy you personally.

i have always been pc gamer, and quite recently my disdain for consoles has been reiterated. i play black ops on my pc regularly, and recently i was at a friends house and he insisted on playing black ops on his ps3 and 55" hd tv, so i said sure, why not. about 2 minutes into the game, all i could think about was how bad the graphics were and how horrible the controls were, and the game seemed to be moving in slow motion compared to the fast paced action I've become accustomed to on the pc. i am so glad i don't own a ps3 i told my friend.

Exactly what I was talking about. Total BS, I have played both and they are very comparable, if you think the PS3 graphics are "bad" you are insane.

Right now, yes, you could get a nicer computer for $300. But when consoles first come out, and being sold at a loss, they do allow a better gaming experience than what some people could afford going the PC route.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]*words*[/citation]Haha, yea I know the feeling mate. However, my class we actually got to keep the PCs, as they were our very own. altho our parents had to pay for them, but meh. I'm still using some of that PC now.. (6 years later) Although.. that's only the HDD, DVD and case lol..
No way I'd still be using that Athlon 64 3000+ w/ nVidia 5200FX 128mb lol...

RE: "Guy who hates PC gaming"
Your words are lost here, PC gaming may not be popular with the children < 15yrs. But for anyone who was old enough to game before the s**tBox360 and PS3 would know that PC was the only platform for decent games. PC is what used to drive the games industry. New Hardware meant new features in games, but now, consoles are the primary focus, so if the 360 can't do it, neither can the PC... Hence why DX11 games haven't truly taken off yet

[citation][nom]i7Rocks[/nom]Exactly what I was talking about. Total BS, I have played both and they are very comparable, if you think the PS3 graphics are "bad" you are insane.[/citation]Yes and no.. The graphics he saw were probably the split screen graphics, which are, frankly, terrible.. but this is due to the fact the console has to render the game TWICE, once for each player. In single screen mode the graphics are pretty decent yes. But not 2560x1600 on a 30" IPS panel decent. 720p-1080p on a 55" TV is nothing compared to the super high res PC displays. Oh, and that's BEFORE you consider multi-display setups, aka Eyefinity/nVidia Surround.

Also the reason PC games don't look any better than the Console counter parts is because the PC version is simply a direct port.. I'd like to see Crysis 1 run on a Console and look as good/smooth. Even if you were to optimize the engine..
