I'm building a moderate level gaming PC.
I'm interested in having ECC Memory for it (I don't mind the added cost, which is fairly minor).

Recently it was discovered that Intel supports ECC Memory:

As far as I understand - to be able to use ECC Memory, I must have the following three hardware components to support ECC Memory:
  1. RAM sticks.
  2. Motherboard.
  3. CPU.
Assuming that the above three hardware components support ECC Memory - then would it work automatically?
Or, do I need to do something specific in order to enable the ECC Memory?

Edit:

If anyone is interested - here's a filter for all Intel's CPUs which support ECC Memory:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/search/featurefilter.html?productType=873&0_StatusCodeText1=3,4&0_ECCMemory=True

It was published in Intel's forum:

as long as motherboard and cpu does support registered ECC/buffered ECC, it would work.

Unbuffered ECC would work on normal board, with the ecc feature will be disabled.
