Hey guys, I have an annoying Asus software problem here.

As Asus owners may know, the laptop comes with a personal monitoring system which helps in selecting how the components may run.

The software has three modes in the GPU mode section:
WINDOWS(DEFAULT)
Eco Mode
ASUS optimized Mode

I never touched the Asus Mode in the start because the first two modes ran completely fine. Windows Mode runs both igpu and dgpu,
Eco Mode runs ONLY the igpu

But as soon as I touched Asus Optimized, it converts to GPU-Eco Mode as stated in the system. (Which is their own version of the Windows mode)

After trying this out, when I switch to ECO mode, the dgpu never turns off a 100% and the software also states its running in GPU-EcoMode and not just ECO-Mode like it should be. Please help.

Asus software has always been bad.

Do you have to use it? Couldn't you just disable armory crate from running at startup and reset the power plans to defaults so you can use the one you want?

can probably stop it in start up tab of file explorer. MIght need to insist using https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns (run as admin)

Step 1: Reset and restore the power plans to default
  1. Click “Windows Key + X, and then click on command prompt.
  2. In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes and hit Enter.
  3. Exit command prompt.

Normally laptops use the igpu for windows and the dgpu for more graphically intensive things like games. So you shouldn't have to change anything.

Eco mode: It works by throttling your machine at lower "power saving" performances. Stretches out battery charge. Ramps down heat output. link
so it makes sense it turns off dgpu in that mode
ASUS optimized Mode
this might turn gpu off when on DC power.
it seems it doesn't always work as intended - link

I think I understand why you want to disable gpu then. Yours doesn't automatically use the igpu on desktop?

might have to use Asus software after all. Should be a way to reset it so it starts in right eco mode. I wish I could find it. Its not obvious.

so which model. I expect they have the same software

any profiles showing in profile manager? Just looking for ways still
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1043747/#a9 - seems only having one for all applications can help stop it switching plans.
maybe go to settings and check for an update.
