elitebook 2570p no sound

Hi guys, I got a new laptop today (refurb) and the speakers don't work, nor does the headphone socket. When I open the volume mixer and I have a song playing or vid on youtube the green volume bar is bouncing/showing a sound signal, but there is just no sound.

I can't seem to understand what the issue is nor can I find and help online. I'm running windows 10, and I updated the laptop to the latest firmware and Bios.

Any help appreciated, the laptop does have a warranty but the shop isn't open for another 2 days and if I can fix it I'd like to.

I ran ubuntu from a USB and again the laptop wasn't making a sound when the I played a song or video online.

In windows 10 did you check to make sure that the laptop's speakers are the default sound device? Just right click on the sound icon go to playback devices and right click your speakers and click set as default device if it is not.

Hi ThaiDye, Yes I've done all that. I think its a bios issue as I updated the bios when I got the laptop an other people have reported the same problem but on different hp machines. I guess I have to try rolling the BIOS back. Thanks for your suggestion though, appreciated
