OK so apparently the x800gto ago by Sapphire is NOT flashable.

Just flashed mine... and BOOM.... dead card.

When I reset the system, i get those terrible hardware beeps... 2 of them i think...

So Prozac I will never doubt your infinite wisdom ever ever ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the meantime, can I load from a PCI card and reflash back to the old and pray it works????

How exactly do i do that?

heres my guess:

1. Install PCI card.
2. Make sure system loads up with PCI card.
3. Ensure that your PCI card is the videochoice in the BIOS
4. Install the busted up x800...
5. Load ATIwinflash, and flash the x800 with my previously saved 12pipe bios...
6. Champagne falls from the heavens.
7. Realize that I have a freaking 12 pipe card and stop trying to OC it to be something it isnt....

Yes it is, you just dont know what your doing n00b

"atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 new.bin" (this is number 0 not letter o)(your bios is likely named something different 'cause you're a n00b)

The Zero designates that your AGP card is the one to be flashed, the AGP slot is always zero, stick to the basic rules and you'll get your card back.

Yup, I said it won't unlock.

So now you need a PCI card to run your PC. Make sure you have the dead GTO in, and then flash the proper BIOS back in, and you should be ready to go.

Thanks. That's what I assumed.

I was stupid for even using ATIWINFLASH... and then I used the force option on top of it... It was Scougs bin file, and he has the EXACT same card... strange.

Anyway, Prozac, you can go ahead and laugh now...

You can flash it without a pci video card, it's easy.

just make a dos boot disk (use drdflash.exe (google it)),
once done download and copy atiflash to the floppy .
Use your backup bios (if you made one)
rename the bios to something easy , like new.bin
then restart the pc with the floppy drive in , it should load the floppy (you should hear this, as long as the pc is set to boot of floppy first in the bios )
leave the pc for a minute or so,
the type
atiflash -newbios -f -p 0 new.bin (this is number 0 not letter o)

again you show hear the floppy working , and leave for a minute , remove the floppy , and his the reset button on the front of your pc ..

I know I'm an ass, but I try to help regardless
