What are the differences between these 2 boards overall? From what I can see price wise the Epox is about 25$ cheaper than the Asus board. They offer mostly the same features whereas the Epox would unlock my XP 2400 automatically and with the Asus you have to do the wire trick to unlock the CPU. On the other hand the Asus offers Serial ATA and a different onboard sound. If I want to OC should I go with the Epox even though it has less features or should I have faith that Asus will get their S##t together and come out with a BIOS that will unlock the multipliers without have to wrap wires around pins (connect L3) on the CPU itself. If you know these boards plz state a case for each as I would like as much feedback as possible to make my decision.

I plan on running a XP 2400 with a Vantec Aeroflow cooler along with probably Corsair (PC 3200 or 3500) or OCZ (same) memory. Any thoughts on the memory choice would be helpful too Thx.

MOBO? SCSI? IDE? IUD? Christ, college calculus was easier!

can't speak for the EPOX but the A7N8X DELUXE is a great board! the latest bios(1002) i think unlocks all the multiplyer. it has great sound and sata HDD are here now. also dual lan among other features.

lol..i just posted about the same thing. I am currently running an epox 8rda (not the +) and its been great so far.
i have got my 1700+ to 2.1Ghz, and havent tried to reach higher speeds yet. I am running 2x256MB OCZ PC3200 Dual DDR and i must say i am impressed with this ram. Runs stable when using the most agressive timings..

The only real difference is that the a7n8x dx has serial ata raid but the 8rda+ doesn't.Get the abit nf7-s, as it has all the features of the a7n8x dx (except dual lan but who needs that?), including sata, and is cheaper.I got one about two weeks ago and it has been performing excellently and overclocks brilliantly (although that xp 1700 @ 2.1GHz of nori's is a beast of an oc).
It unlocked my xp 2400 for me too, just as the 8rda+ does.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]
Edited by ad_rach on 02/11/03 06:16 PM.

I like the Epox for the great overclocking it brings....and I have heard that the asus is a real memory stresser
