I have the epox nforce 4 ultra motherboard and i recently installed a sata drive (WD raptor) on the nf4 sata controller. I didnt need to install sata drivers, is this ok? It seems to be running great, would it be even better if installed the sata drivers? (if they exist that is)

thanks!

I think the drivers you refer to are used if you RAID your SATA drives. Otherwise the nforce 4 ultra chipset has native SATA (you don't need drivers for the sata drives).

The drivers are for RAID mode. You instal windows normally without RAID mode, then update the chipset drivers as a package when installation is complete.

I have the same mobo as you. And if you plan on use P2P software don't install the firewall from nvidia, it will make the pc crash.
