I know this has been visited before, I have also done some looking on
RGP, but would this be a satisactory programmer for a casual pinball
player/collector? I dont really want to climb above the 50 dollar range
if possible, as I dont need these that often. (Not yet at least)

I know I can buy roms, and have before (Thanks John Wart Jr.) but I
would like to start burning my own. I dont want to spend a lot of money
for a Programmer, but I wasnt sure if the one I have the link to would
be sufficient for me. My collection is Data East and one Wh20, but in
the future I could see adding another Williams/Bally machine and other
DE titles. (All 90's generation SS pins)
Thanks for any/all suggestions as always..Tim

These work fine, but can be tricky to set up. You'll likely also need
to purchase an eraser. By the time all is said and done, it is probably
better to use John's programmer.

I built my own william and the software works great! You have to set
each eprom with the dip switches but that isn't a problem. The
problem is if this programmer is capable of programming at 25v. THe
older eproms use 25v programming and the unmodified william will not do
the 25v and would be useless. You also need an earaser but you could
use a small ultra violet light you can get from kmart. I dont remember
the cost though. Its a small battery operated flouresent light that
you have to replace the bulb with a g4t5. Works great.

Tim just bite the bullet and get a pocket programmer II . I only burn
roms for myself and friends. I promised guys on here I wouldnt profit
from selling them. theres enough great people selling roms and I dont
need to play cut throat with great people like John Wart etc.

I bought one of these a while ago and am quite happy with it. Found a
cheap eraser and it fits my need to burn an occasional rom without
spending a bunch. I even extracted some images for John Wart once.

Thanks for all the input. I love the pocket programmer, but it will
definitely hit my pocket book... I will give the willem a try and see
how it works...That being said, if anyone knows any good places to buy
an eraser and low cost chips, please let me know....Thanks again, this
group has been a great resource for my obsession.....

I've got one of these Willem programmers, it works but it was difficult to
set up, lots of different jumpers and the information was difficult to find.

Other things to consider are:
You need a power supply for the programmer
You probably need some sort of enclosure
An eraser would be very handy in case you programme the eprom wrong
