[EQL] what the heck's happening in DL?

I went back to DL to see if the update had added a mob needed for
a task I'd been given (even though I've since ditched the task, I'd
like to know if it's been fixed). Instead I found almost all the
normal mobs gone. Lanys T'Vyl herself is near the passage to the
Lost Valley, with some dark elf Generals and a small army of undead.
Al'Kabor is near the FV zone, with another army. Nobody else was in
the zone but me.

Nobody in PoK or guild or various other channels seemed to know what
was going on. Of course, there's not a lot of folks on at this hour.

Oh, and the new quests in Lavastorm stopped working, too, which was
a tad awkward.

I'm off to bed; maybe there'll be more information when I get up. 🙂

Innoruk has released his daughter Lanys from exile in Hate. She is preparing to march
against all the creatures of light, with a particular bent towards a long-awaited rematch
with Tunare's champion, Firiona Vie.

Her first act was to 'recruit' King and Queen Thex of Neriak to her father's cause. Now
it appears that Lanys is building a host in DL to attack Firiona Vie's namesake city.

Here's a snippet from the very end of storyline/storyLanys.txt, which was the last
addition to the EQ Storyline...

"Aye, don't worry, my friend. You will be well fed," Lanys said as they left to recruit
and train as many dark elves, trolls and even ogres as they could find with their eye on
amassing in the Overthere.

Yep, it occurred to me to open up the long-neglected Story Window (alt-N)
and see what it said, and there it was. Still don't know what those mobs
are going to do; for now they're just standing around. But the lack of
other mobs in the zone is a real pain; I have a task that wants me to kill
some stonegazers in DL, and there aren't any now!

I *do* enjoy seeing actual change in the world of Norrath, but it can get
to be awkward for all us peons running around trying to get stuff done. 🙂

Lanys will be raiding the city of Firiona Vie sometime real soon.

I wonder if the GMs will /serverwide the start of the battle, and I wonder if enough PCs
could repel the invasion. Probably not, huh. :->

I wonder if enough PCs would *want* to repel the battle! My main character
wouls be more than happy to see FV-the-outpost burned to the bedrock (again)
and Firiona Vie (the character) hung, drawn, quartered...and then killed. =p

Perhaps you enjoyed the storyline but you weren't there aparently to
get hit for 5k damage in 1/1000th of a second without any chance to
react because you never even saw the mobs because the lag was so bad.

Which means you also werent there to try to recover your body and die
several times more because of it. Only to discover that (now several
of) your body(s) was/were stuck in one of SOE's wonderful graphic
errors and couldnt be recovered at all. Paid a Necro to summon it,
only to discover that "you have no bodies in this zone" because it had
crashed.

Or loose all your equipment when the bad programming repeatedly
crashed the DL and FV zones. (I didnt but several people were
complaining to the GM's in the system chat)

Yes, it was a wonderful storyline.

I want a refund.

Oh nos, all six people that are in DL during prime time will be
inconvenienced!

By the way, in case anyone cares - the war is very exploitable. Train
one side's troops onto the other side, then do at least one point of damage
to any mob you want to loot. The corpses won't poof when killed by the other
NPCs that way, and after two minutes you can loot them. There's some OK
stuff dropping, too - 15 ATK aug, caster wand with Rend proc, lots of nifty
80ish HP/MANA attunable gear.

Do they run faster than JBoots? Do they snare or root? I wouldn't expect they'd summon.
Don't you have to do like 5% damage to a mob before it will summon?

The Undead Captains, and those evil floating beasties (whatever they're called) con red to
me. Once I trained them to Al'Kabor, I'd have to use stuns and nukes to damage them.
Things could get hairy if I somehow pulled aggro while getting in close to generate melee
damage.

Will Lanys or Al'Kabor leave their posts? The Gate Keeper and the Key Master - we've GOT
to get these two together :->

I visited DL, had no lag, checked out some mobs, and left. Several other
guildies messed around there and got a few decent drops.
