[SOLVED] Err_Connection_Closed with higher speed & duplex

Alright so this issue started a couple of months ago, I was uploading a school assignment and boom, ethernet gone. It said Err_Connection_Closed. I eventually lowered my speed & duplex and it got back again. However everytime I change my speed & Duplex from 10 mbps to like 1 gbps or auto negotiation it closes my ethernet connection. Anybody maybe knows how I can get my fast ethernet back again?

I have got an MSI B150m Night elf motherboard. I tried switching router ports but that didn't help. I haven't swapped cables since I only got 1. Thanks for your fast reply!

I’d roll another cable, otherwise the NIC may have failed to an extent.

Alright, I just checked my cable and I saw it got damaged on a few spots. Like I could see the inside of it. Could that maybe be it?

Yes. Physical damage to the cable will cause problems. One (of 8) broken wire is all that is required to prevent gigabit ethernet from working.

I bought a new cable but it still didn't solve the problem. Could it than be my NIC?

Maybe. What cable did you buy? There are lots of cheap, out-of-spec cables out there.
