I recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1. My Internet was fine for a day but the next it suddenly popped up with ‘Ethernet has an invalid ip configuration’. I don’t know what caused this and I’ve looked on forum after forum for solutions, none of which have worked. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.

What I’ve tried:

Disabling the network card
Renewing the ip
Restarting the router
Manually entering the ip in ipv4 properties

Solution
Hello jackstockham

Sometime diagnosing the NIC is the easiest way to repair the issues.

Can you please try the following:

> In the Cortana search box, type NCPA.CPL and press Enter.

> In the Network Connections window that opens up, right-click the NIC that has the issue.

> Click Diagnose from the context menu.

This detects any issues with the network adapter or the connection, and fixes the problem automatically. If it's unable to fix, it displays the error, and suggests the steps you can take for the rectification.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!! :)
