Hi everyone, haven't posted in a while, but I was hoping someone could help me out with an issue I'm having. I have an ASUS Z97-AR motherboard and for some reason, my wired connection is limited to 10 megabits per second and I have no idea how to make use of my 200 megabyte per second download speeds. This is rather frustrating, as I am getting ~22 megabyte per second downloads on steam over wi-fi, and I would like to maximize my speed. If anyone knows any settings that can be changed to increase my ethernet speed to 1 gigabit (which the motherboard supposedly supports) I would be very grateful! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Are you sure you are not confusing b and B?

For example 200Mbit internet service should theoretically allow 25MByte/s download speeds, which is very close to your stated 22MByte.

If any of the 8 wires of ethernet isn't connecting, gigabit should drop to 100Mbits which is theoretically 12.5MBytes/s and close to your stated 10. It's worth using ethernet instead of wifi for the lower ping, and as stated you should try a new cable as it's both the thing that goes bad the most often as well as the cheapest.

Now I feel silly, I was confusing b with B. Must have skimmed over the webpage too fast to notice the lower case instead of uppercase. I've tried two different ethernet cables and both report lower speeds than over wi-fi, so I will go get another cable today or tomorrow to see if I can get up to 25MB/s. Thanks!
