My Ethernet port is no longer working. I have a feeling that it was the storm yesterday, however I'm not 100% certain so I'm asking if anyone has any ideas before I replace it. The modem was fried after the storm and I have already replaced it with a new one from the ISP so this could also be an issue with the new router/modem.
CPU: Intel i7-4770k
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A
PSU: Corsair AX760
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Router/Modem: Sagemcom 1704N
ISP: Windstream DSL
I have a Netgear FS105 Switch with 5 ports.
The reason I'm not completely sure whether or not the port is fried is because it will detect an Ethernet cable and say that I'm connected to an unidentified network without Internet access, though this could be the switch since it says the same whether or not the switch is connected to the router. I've tried the Ethernet cable running directly from the router on my laptop and it works fine. I've also plugged that cable into the switch and connected my laptop to the switch via another cable which also worked fine. I'm receiving "'Local Area Connection' doesn't have a valid IP configuration" error when I troubleshoot the connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, sorry if I forgot something or rambled on.
