Hi! Thank you in advance for any help and apologies if this is in the wrong area.
I recently built a new PC and cannot get the internet to work via an ethernet cable. I went and bought a little wireless usb stick thingy so I'm using wireless internet for now, though I'd prefer to be hard wired. I need help troubleshooting why my ethernet doesn't work.
Here is my build:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Asus Strix B350-F mobo
Evga GTX 1060
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3000 2x8GB
500 GB SSD Samsung Evo 850
More info:
- I'm running windows 10 home 64bit.
- I've downloaded the lan drivers from this link under the "lan" area. This did not fix the problem(https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B350-F-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/)
- When I plug the ethernet cable into the PC it "connects" to the internet. Let me clarify, when you hover over the ethernet icon in the bot-right corner it says "Network, Internet access". It doesn't have a red x or a yellow !. However, the internet does not work as it is. My network does have a name, and when I use my laptop with the ethernet cable, it shows up as the name of the network and not just "network".
- Yes, I've tested the same cable into my laptop and that works just dandy.
Any other information you need to help me trouble shoot I'd be more than happy to supply.
