It's an absolute DUH factor, the price gouging! But otherwise, how about that freedom of choice?

If I'm the only one making something you want/need, don't you dare tell me what its worth!
On the flip side, price gouging doesn't help everyone, but rather the hand full of individuals that dictate the numbers. Look/listen, until any of this puts my money back in my pocket, it'll just be business as usual. You will all accept it no matter what, and they know it!

If these initial probes culminate in a formal EU antitrust investigation and Nvidia is found guilty, the company could face substantial penalties that could account for 10% of its global annual revenue. In Nvidia's case, that would be billions of dollars.

Only 10%?
Merely a slap on the wrist.
Just the 'news press/notoriety' will ramp up their earnings.
