So I've just received a GTX 1070 from EVGA as a replacement for a faulty 980TI, and now that I've put it into my PC and gone to plug it in, I've noticed that it has 2 8-pin connectors. I've recently moved house and have absolutely no idea where the rest of my PSU cables might be, so in my research, I've seen people saying that the 2nd 8-pin is to allow for higher overclocking and that an 8-pin+6-pin connection will do fine, I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm this as I'm having trouble finding a single 8-pin PCiE cable online.

PSU is a Corsair CX850M

Thanks for any and all responses on the thread.

Solution

Check with them on chat, but should not be expensive.

Are you aware of anywhere that I can just get a single dual 8-pin cable? I don't really want to spend £30 just to get 1 cable that I need.

I've seen other cable modding companies just sell single modular cables, they are out there.

Would you trust a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter to do the job, I really can't justify the cost of custom cables.
