Question EVGA 700 W1

Hello, I have a problem and I would like to hear different opinions. By way of summary; I have a computer with a Ryzen 5 5600G. I don't have a graphics card. I am planning to buy one next month, a RX 6600 and maybe I will switch to a 5600x. My problem is the power supply. I've been using the EVGA 700w W1 for a year and a half and without problems, but of course, the consumption I have is minimal. In my country it is "the best" that can be found, in all the shops there are only AZZA and EVGA W1 power supplies. I have already read all the tier lists and I am aware that it is not the best quality.

The only good thing I've read about this power supply is that if you don't intend to use very powerful graphics cards or do overclocking, your PC should be fine, but I'm worried that it could represent a risk for the RX 6600. The maximum power consumption I've been given by several calculators is 300-325W, so I don't know if it's so low that it doesn't represent any risk.

Do you think it is ok? My main idea was to buy the graphics card and keep looking for alternative PSU to try to get something better in December or January, waiting for new models to arrive.

If it had been something even on the level of an EVGA BR or a Corsair VS, it would probably have been OK, but the W1 and N1 PSUs are so far down in quality that I would personally hold off on the GPU upgrade until such time as you can get the alternative PSU.

any particular reason going with Nvidia for the GPU?

i'd would recommend a different case.

be quiet! makes some awesome products but the Pure Base 600 has very limited airflow vs other options.

i would definitely consider the Silent Base 802 in it's place.
for only ~$15 more you get a much nicer case with many more options.
Yes i also thought it was a small one but it was a auto generated list. I was also considering silent base 802 or the dark base 700 as i liked its design. Dont know much about the airflow of both as i wanna use an air cooler and dont wanna experience any overheating.

the dark base 700
i had a Dark Base 700 and it also has limited airflow compared to the Silent Base 802.

the entire metallic case was always pretty warm to the touch showing that quite a bit of warmth was always contained in the system and not properly exhausting.
that was with a front 280mm AiO pulling in, 1x 140mm bottom intake, and 3x 140mm top & rear exhaust.
i kept considering tearing/cutting out a large section of the top and customizing my own vented ceiling for it.

if noise is a bigger deal to you than heat dissipation/airflow then the Pure Base or Dark Base may be a better option, but the Silent Base is far superior when it comes to component cooling options.

Cooling is more important i guess since i am not gonna use an aio. Thanks for the info. Do you think the drp4 is enough for this setup or i should switch to noctua or smth else?

As far as AMD (I have no idea how it does for rendering) you have the 7900xtx for maybe slightly cheaper or the same price as the 4080 that you found and it has more VRAM.
7900xtx is the only one i considered actually but i think im gonna stick with nvidia better safe than sorry 😅 i might not go for the 4080 even i might get a 4070 ti since the price where im gonna get the parts is way higher than online

Hi. A few weeks ago I posted that I was stuck with the EVGA W1 white power supply. I have continued to scour the corners of my country looking for better options and, the only ones I have found have been these two power supplies: EVGA GD GOLD 600W and EVGA BQ BRONZE 600W.

I would like to ask around here for opinions, are they good? I have read the tierlist and I see that they are placed in Tier C, I guess that's good considering that the W1 is in Tier F.

I plan to buy a RX 6600 graphics in the future, to pair it with a 5600.

I guess that's good
I don't think so.

EVGA GD Gold is Tier B, while BQ is yes, Tier C,
PSU tier list: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...er-list-rev-14-8-final-update-jul-21.3624094/

Despite what the Tier list different classes are named, it's more along the lines of:
Tier A - top-notch PSUs, for any gaming PC with dedicated GPU.
Tier B - lesser quality PSUs, only good for office PCs without dedicated GPU.
Tier C-E - not worth the money.

So, if you have money for GPU upgrade, you'll also have money for proper, good quality, PSU too. Else-ways, don't buy the GPU if you can't afford a proper PSU.

Where are you located?

What other brand's/PSU's do you have access to? As for your current build, please list them like so;

I am from Venezuela. The most sold power supplies here (and the only ones really) are the EVGA W1 models and the AZZA brand, which seem to me to be too generic.

My components are:

Ryzen 5 5600G

Jonsbo CR 1400

B550MH

16GB of ram at 3200 MHZ

GPU none for the moment

Chassis BLAZE 231 - AZZA

Windows 10

LG 1080P monitor (I don't know the exact model)

Either you didn't look hard enough or didn't look at all. :no:

A bit of Google-Fu and voila, plenty of good quality Corsair units;
e.g RM850x, link: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.v...oder-corsair-rm850x-850watts-gold-modular-_JM
or a lower quality unit, RM850e, link: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.v...-corsair-rm850e-full-modular-pcie-50-850w-_JM
equal to RMe, a TX-550m, link: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.v...orsair-tx-m-series-tx550m-550w-oro-certif-_JM

You even have Seasonic, like;
Focus PX-650, link: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.v...sonic-focus-px-650-650-watts-full-modular-_JM
or Focus GX-750, link: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ve/MLV-763168602-fuente-seasonic-focus-gx-750-750w-80-gold-_JM

Hell, you have even access to Super Flower units, and those are rare,
Leadex III Gold 750, link: https://articulo.mercadolibre.com.v...super-flower-leadex-iii-750-watts-80-gold-_JM

I don't speak Spanish and i even don't live in Venezuela, yet, i can find plenty of good quality PSUs in your local market. How come? 🤔

Hey, I know it's been a few days, but I just found a model here in my country. I haven't bought the graphics card because I want to get a better source. Do you think the EVGA GD GOLD can go well with what I have?
