I am beginning to think the price will be even higher than I had originally anticipated. How often do we not know the estimated retail price for a card this close to launch? Keeping that information secret doesn't help drum up sales unless it is very expensive. If it actually was a competitive price to ATI, NVIDIA would be announcing it all over the place.

Wow, epic detective work:

[citation][nom]zyzeast[/nom]still kinda weird neither boxes have DX11 on them as a selling point.[/citation]

None of their current boxes mention DX10 either on the front. Good thing there's 5 more sides.

[citation][nom]tpi2007[/nom]Hmmm, did anyone notice something I just did ? Both boxes say DDR5 instead of GDDR5... they could be fake boxes after all...[/citation]

Again, their boxes never include the G only the DDRx.

[citation][nom]pocketdrummer[/nom]The GTX480 better be awesome and shorter than 290mm... else I'll be getting an ATI or GTX470. Time will tell.[/citation]

It's 10.5", you can convert that if you want. The original reference design of the 5870 is 11" and sounds like a cheap hair dryer at anything over 50% fan speed.

Gah, I'm tired of hearing about new stuff that hasn't even come out yet. What I want is for a company to develop a product in secrecy until the moment of release.

[citation][nom]pogsnet[/nom]Funny they are ashamed to put DX11 on the package.[/citation]
WOW. You think that would be a selling point.

you know what is strange? the 480 has the blue stripe and the 470 has the red stripe. maybe they thought that people would associate how hot the 480 gets with the red stripe and wanted to take away focus from the heat issues this card will probably face if you overclock it so they made the 480 stripe a "cool" blue?

And I suppose you also have a theory as to how penguins built the pyramids?

That site has already been called out for hoaxing mate.

Why don't ypu have a poll or ocntest on which brand will have the best box art for these GPUs? It's more exciting than waiting for the product to be released - the first GPU to hit $700 at release???

Yeahh of course it can! Don't you see that vast amount of Box Brute Power! and a loooot of memory for playing the lastest games??

The antisipation is killing me! I just want to see what is under the cardboard box?
Maybe a few hundred dollars will make you change your mind Nvidia?
Or are you just to good for the likes of us?

[citation][nom]snurp85[/nom]nVidia has the strangest memory amounts. 1280 and 1536Mb???? wtf is up with that[/citation]
[citation][nom]Zerk[/nom]Whats with the 1536mb? I thought the 480 was to have 2gb?[/citation]

It's a 384-bit memory bus. 1536/384=4. In addition there are 12 128mb ddr5 chips. 128*4=512. 512*3=1536.

Whereas 2000/384=5.208333... FAIL.

The 470 has a 320-bit memory bus... you can run those numbers if you like.
