Experience with the new SR1000 series?

Hi,

Considering getting one of the new SR1000 presarios for home. We're
looking for a computer that is very quiet. Anyone have experience
with either the SR1000V or SR1000Z computers in terms of their
reliability and noise?

I set up a SR1012NX for someone at work (AMD XP 3000+), and its case fan
only runs about 1300 rpm, so it is fairly quiet.

I have a similar HP a530n (AMD 64 3200+) which has AGP instead of
integrated video and possibly higher memory bus speed (up to PC3200).
Its case fan only runs 1200 rpm (64-bit cpus run cooler). When I tried to
install a higher end video card that required 250W power supply, the HP
250W PSU would not even boot. So I installed an Antec 350W PSU which
works fine.

Note that programs that display temperature and fan sensors seem to report
lower fan speed than the BIOS does during boot in either machine, even
though I think the fans are fixed speed.

PS: The variable speed fan on my Sony PIII 500 laptop makes more noise
when its cpu is working hard, than either of these PCs.

Yes, I just bought an sr1000v pc the other day. It is very very quiet
and all the noise it makes is a quiet humm. The floppy drive is pretty
quiet,too.
