External Hard Drive stops copying after few files

I recently bought a 4TB hard disk because my laptop internal hard drive is full and its performance became slow. So I thought to move all my files to the hard disk and reset my laptop. When I try to copy the files some folders are copied and when I try to copy the large file some of the content is copied and it reduced to 0 bytes/sec and waited for long so that it will start but nothing happend.The external hard drive uses the USB 2.0

Make and model of your 4TB HDD? Did you buy it standalone and drop it into an enclosure?

The hard drive was provided by my company. I don't know all these things

bhargav24, you can download and run SeaTools on the drive to see what its health is. That will let you know if the drive could be the culprit.

depending on the year your HDD have used or on how often you use it its possible its getting tired, so you could have some bad sectors which the header is finding it hard to read
