Hi really need some help.

My External HDD file system has become corrupt, I need to recover all data as it has my college work on it.

Already run DSKCHK and it is still corrupt.

Please help, many thanks in advance.

Using WIN 7 64bit, 2.5inch external USB/SATA HDD (Western Digital) I think the file system is NTFS.

You can go to My Computer, find your external HDD in the drive list, right click it and go to properties. From there go to the tab at the top that says "Tools". Once on that page click the prompt under Error Checking that says "Check Now". Once that brings up its prompt you should check both of the boxes displayed and start scanning. This will take A LOT of time depending on the size of the disk and seeing as the drive will be unusable during the process, it might be helpful to time it around when youre sleeping. I cant guarantee that this will restore all of your files but its the best shot I can think of
