Hello everyone,

I have an Asus laptop (Asus ROG-G551JM).

I've connected it to a BenQ PD3200U monitor.

I've connected the laptop via mini DP to DP on the monitor

I've set the display to only display on monitor 2 (the benq)

I have two qestions.

1-
my laptop is 1920x1080
My benq is 4k

I am getting 4k?
It says and looks like 4k.
Are youtube videos in 4k?
I clicked stats for nerds and it shows output as 4k

So how am I able to get 4k when my laptop video card is 1080?

2-
Do I need to install benq monitor drivers on my laptop?

if so, would the benq drivers conflict with the asus laptop monitor drivers?

thank you

Your GPU on your laptop does not provide support for 4K display.
Your monitor does provide support for 4K display.
Your youtube videos will have an option to select quality at the bottom right which indicate resolutions that the content created uploaded. If you choose to stream 4K, the quality of the stream will greatly increase and you will see it on your monitor because of the resolutions it can handle, but your graphics card will not be able to process 4K in video games or 4D modeling.

You will not be able to fully utilize your monitor's resolution with the current hardware you have. Though you will be able to stream 4K because your GPU isn't being taxed as much when streaming videos.
