Question External ssd enclosure limited to 2TB?

Perhaps what they really mean is that it is designed for only 1 sided m.2s where all of the chips are on the top side where the heat sink is. So if you have a 2 sided m.2 where there are chips on the bottom side it wouldn't work as well or at all.

And it may be that 2TB was the max size available at the time this was manufactured.

That type of printed "limit" is very common. And not a real "limit".

The 4 bay MediaSonic enclosure I have lists max drive size" of 16TB, 20TB, 22TB....depending on where you look.

And when I bought it in 2016, 22TB was laughably expensive, if available at all.

So its listed max at the time was probably 8TB. I currently have 14 and 16TB drives in it.

That is about what I had in mind but wanted a second opinion. Thanks!

Fair point. The datasheet only shows a heatsink for the top side so that may be the case.
