External USB SSD RAID?

I don't know whether it's possible to set those up in a RAID array. I think it's not worth the effort or cost, though. The product says 140MB/s (lower right on the packaging) so the drive itself will be the bottleneck (not the USB speed). Even if you can RAID them and even if they scale perfectly, you'll need 4 of them to reach the approximate speeds of a good SATA SSD.

If you want to put some games on an SSD, you can get good 128 GB SSDs for about $60 or a 256 for about $100.

In the end, anything you plug into a single USB 3.0 controller is going to be limited to 620-ish MB/s. I'm pretty sure that bandwidth is that of the entire usb controller so if you have multiple drives plugged in, they'll have to share that bandwitdth.

Hope this helps.
