Indeed but also keep in mind preloading things into the vram if it has the room also makes it smoother and less spikes if any. You are also assuming that just because it uses it doesn't mean it needs it. And nvidia and AMD also scale different with different controller widths and memory amounts as well. For nvidia it may not because the way its handled and AMD it may need it for the FPS. For AMD I have seen that normally with the more vram the better fps you get. Anyway I an not going to start arguing over a subject that people have been for quite a few years now. I know which card to get now :)

When you run out of VRAM, you run into a FPS cliff. If the Nvidia card has the same minimums (higher in some cases and lower in others, but barely in either case) as their equal, if not typically slightly superior AMD 3Gb counterparts, there is not a lack of VRAM. If they only showed the average FPS, there could be some cases where there is slightly more stutter as a result of the lower VRAM and we wouldn't know it, but the minimums are a clear indicator that there is no such lack of VRAM.

Anyways, you plan to mod Skyrim and other games. If you mod, you will run into issues occasionally, so the argument is moot.

Very true man :) Thank you all for your help. If you want to know how this journey ends be sure to follow the topic as I will try and post how this turns out for all your benefit and future reference.

Sure. I've just started another run through Skyrim myself, but I am into 3D Vision. Skyrim is one of the better games for 3D.

Cindy....

I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX, with three, 27" LG monitors. My CPU is overclocked to 4.0ghz, and I have 16gb RAM; my graphics card is the NVIDIA GeForce 660Ti. The game plays awesomely! Just make use you keep up with the GPU drivers. NOTE: FSX doesn't rely on graphics as much as CPU speed, so your computer's CPU is most important for that game. Good luck!
