Eyefinity with 1x27in and 2x24in screens?

Hello, sorry if this is wrong category of the forum to be posting about this particular question but i don't know anywhere else to post it and i assume it kinda falls into the same category as 'displays'.
So im planning an eyefinity setup and currently have 1x 23in monitor and 1x 27in monitor and was thinking of buying two more 27 inch monitors for $289-$325 each so ill be spending $600. I matched up my 23in monitor with my 27in monitor and the difference in size from top to bottom is only 1.0-1.5in and i was thinking of buying 2x24in screens for $199 each and saving about $200 dollars getting the 24in instead of the 27in screens. Because when i think about it im paying $200 for an extra 0.5-1.0in of screen at the top.
So should i buy the 2x24 inch screens, save $200 and have a 0.85in to 1.0in gap at the top or should just go all out and pay $600 for the 27in monitors? Has anybody else done this and does it really make a huge difference? Because i can buy 1-2 new ssd's with that $200 i saved buying the 2x24in monitors.

What are your full system specs?(CPU,RAM,etc.)

What games are you planning on using eyefinity with?

What is the resolution of the 27" and the 23" monitors?

I haven't played with eyefinity that much so I can't go into great detail but it's my understanding that the bezel(the area that encloses the screen itself) of the monitor is very important in an eyefinity setup.The bigger it is the worse it is going to look.You want the smallest amount of space between the next screen as much as possible.

I would advice against mismatched display. I have 3x42" TV's in Eyefinity & I take great pains to line them up exactly ( the table they are on are not level ) so I have to put a several coins just to make sure that the images line up exactly between the center display and the side displays. Otherwise, I am distracted.

If this is distracting to same sized display, the difference in the screen size & mismatched images will be much more distracting.

It will be better for you to buy 2x23in monitor that match your existing one. Without a point of comparison, you will hardly notice the small difference in display size of the 3x23" at normal viewing distance versus the distraction of a mismatched 24"+27"+24" configuration.

Itll be 27 in the middle and 24 as the side screens. I was using the 23 inch to experiment with what 24inch would be like because i already have a 23in.
Im currently running an i7 3820, asus rampage iv formula x79, asus 6950 dcuii 2gb and 8gb corsair vengeance.
Games i would be playing are mainly fps games such as bf3, crysis, fallout 3/new vegas. Games ill be rarely playing are f1 2011, dirt 3 and might get some need for speed in the future. Both the 24in monitors will be 1920x1080 and current 27in monitor is 1920x1080 as well. So all screens will be 1920x1080

Then if you make both side monitors centered to the middle monitor there will only be a 0.25 to 0.425 gap on the bottom and the top of the 24in monitors.

Your going to need another 6950 to power an eyefinity setup with those games.

I second the 24" setup.Having 3x27" monitors takes up a lot of real estate and since they are not 2560x1600 it's not really worth it,imo.

+1 on another 6950. I got 2x6950 2GB to get 55-60fps in Skyrim. Single 6950 will do around 30fps. But skyrim is quite forgiving. As I remember, Crysis 2 & AVP were unplayable with one.

I wish i can buy another asus 6950, my plan was to buy another one about a month ago but now that they have been discontinued they have all dried up and cant even find one on ebay. I think it will actually look a lot worse.But you may think differently.The only way to know is to try it.

You don't have to buy a Asus card.You can use any 6950.But I would suggest going with an aftermarket one.6950's are dirt cheap these days.I remember buying my 6870 for $240.And that was a reference design.Here's an aftermarket one going for $200 with 2 free games.WOW what a deal.I would get it while you can i'm sure it will go fast.
