Hi folks,

Waiting eagerly for my copy of the game.Anybody know of a place in the UK
that would print out the big PDF maual and bind it etc

Unless you're willing to spend a fortune, just get it photocopied and buy a
three ring binder. They must have something like a Kinko's over there in the
UK. My manual cost about $45 to print (what's that, about 25 pounds). I did
it single sided, however wish I had done it double sided. But I hate to see
through to the other side with the cheap 20lb bond paper. I then bought a
nice 5-inch 3 ring binder, and a smaller one so I can take one section out
at a time for training. Laminated my keyboard layout, and my CH HOTAS
reference.

Yep. KallKwik, or ProntoPrint. As you say: it would cost a fortune though.
What we need is for someone to get permission from Graphsim to do a batch
run to get the costs down.

Got my copy of F4:AF today in the post from SimWare. I'm going to be having
serious words with them about their shipping though, the box was absolutely
crushed and creased. The sent it in a flippin' jiffy bag! (Plus I think
customs may have had a look as the round plastic seals had been broken.)

I bought my copy at a Best Buy here in Athens, GA, and all three copies on
the shelf had crushed/dinged/creased boxes and the plastic seals on them all
were questionable as well. Hmm...

I got mine today as well My box was also wiped through UPS In
the US. But the CD and manual seem OK. I guess I can live without
a box. Was the only thing in the box a CD and manual? That is all
that was in mine and the bottom seal was blown on the game box from
the crushing impact. I guess I won't return it 🙂

I was lazy and bought mine from amazon. As I said in another post mine
was also wiped. Maybe these will be special and more expensive in
the end 🙂

Yes, just cdrom and game manual. Sure would have been nice to have
recieved a printed key card - cheap bastages.

God knows why they didn't follow Sonalysts lead and offer a nice ring bound
printed manual for extra $. Pdf manuals, esp for a complex sim is nothing
but a giant pita

I agree, but on the plus side, F4 now runs under Windows better than it used
to, and I can have the pdf manual open on my second monitor, and use it
while F4 is still running full-screen on the main one.

I read an interview with one of the people from lead pursuit somewhere
that if they had enough interest they would consider offering the printed
manual for some amount of money. Presumably if the game does well enough
we may eventually get our wish. I ordered my copy from amazon (couldn't
find it anywhere in the stores) so I would definately consider ordering
the manual if they offer it.

I don't need a printed manual, the one that came with it is sufficient
for me. I'm just wondering why the dicks neglected to include a
printed keycard. A keycard is a *necessity* to the enjoyment of any
flight sim. My colour printer is on the fritz so I can't just print
one out either.

I agree with you there. My color inkjet only prints black now because the
printhead is hosed, and it cost as much to replace the damn print head as it
does to get a new printer. Just don't want to spend the money just yet to
upgrade it. Not only that, they didn't include a decent printable copy of it
either.

I luckily have free access to a color laser printer at work, so rearranged
the keyboard layout so it would print on two 8.5x11 sheets and had them
laminatd. But Lead Pursuit including one would have saved me the hassle and
cost of doing this.

I'm taking the approach that I am going to try to use the clickable
cockpit for almost all of my functions. That seems to me a bit more
realistic anyway.

Alternatively, if you have a programmable joystick, you could map all
your favorite keystrokes there.

My joystick doesn't have 101 programmable buttons. 🙂
