Hey everyone! Hope this ends up in the right forum.

I havnt built a PC in like a decade but just got myself a new one. I'm keeping my old Fractal Design R4 case for the build. I'm attaching two images and would like ya'lls opinion. (Need to click the arrow to the right for image number two)

Back in the days the word was often more input then output. Dont know if that still applies.

In the images you can see the two 140 are the same and the 120s are the same.

Another question, I'm thinking the CPU fans should be blowing backwards and not upwards?

Thanks in advance, S

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

I would throw away the CX750M in that picture if it's going to go in your next build. That being said, I'd keep the top and rear 140mm, set as exhaust, no fans at the bottom and 140mm fans at the front if you're not going to use the drive cage/caddy.

There's more like these;

Thank you!

I was gonna keep it, since its sufficient enough for my build. Why would you throw away the CX750M? The CX750M is not a decade old, I replaced that one after a lightning struck out the one I had before. Think I got the CX750M around 2017, 2018. And what would you propose instead?

Im going to skip the drive cage caddy for better air flow. Its not needed anyways.

Im probably gonna upgrade the 120mm to 140s, but for now I play with I have, two 140s and two 120s. I would think the 120s probably have a better airflow since the 140s are way much older.

Thanks for the link!

I have two 140mm intake fans in the front of my R4, plus two top exhaust fans and one rear fan. I'm cooling eight 3.5in hards disks in a TrueNAS Core RAIDZ2 server, for which the case is ideal.

The CX750M warranty only lasts 5 years, unlike the RM750X which has a 10 year warranty.

The CM has Bronze efficiency rating. The RM is Gold with higher efficiency.

Your CX might last another five years, but Corsair isn't sufficiently confident to give it a ten year warranty.

An example. I bought a second hand computer recently in a nice Cooler Master Aluminium case. It came with a good quality PSU, first reviewed in 2009. After six months of intermittent use, the PSU exploded with a loud bang. What a surprise (not)! The PSU was 15 years old.

The choice is yours. Carry on using your old CX outside of warranty until it eventually dies, or treat your new computer to a brand new power supply. On a premium build, it's worth paying more for a higher quality PSU.

Corsair update their PSUs from time to time, but here are a couple of reviews for comparison.
