Far Cry 3 Low FPS (GTX 980)

Hey all, I built a new rig for Christmas and I'm having an issue with Far Cry 3 where I'm getting 45-60 frames on a GTX 980. I looked up benchmarks here:

According to this I should be getting minimum 80 frames at 1920x1080, and I'm not even hitting that.

My system specs are:
i5 4690k stock speed (3.5 GHz)
GTX 980
MSI Z97 PC Mate
16 GB RAM @ 1866 MHz

my ? would be what cpu and motherboard set up are they using with the 980 for far cry 3? it may be your cpu doesnt have the horsepower to drive those numbers

I'm not sure. As far as I know the 4690k is a pretty strong CPU, it may be the motherboard but I've never heard of the mobo directly effecting framerate

well i know far cry 3 n 4 are cpu-n-gpu intensive games. which im gonna have to get. im running 4770. wondering what i'll be pushing with my 290x. smoke titanfall with over 120fps running on my 144hz monitor. what are your fps in metro lastlight redoux?

Are you sure you are using the exact same settings used in the benchmark?

There should be no problems with either your CPU or RAM I run a 3670k with 8gb Ram and there are no problems with a bottleneck there with Far Cry 3. I kinda doubt it's the Motherboard. Maybe you don't have a powerful enough power supply or it's a driver issue considering that card is pretty new.

positive. I also seem to be getting less-than-normal frames in Titanfall as well.

I dont know, I have a Silverstone 500W rated 80+ gold in there, that should be plenty.

Unless you have AA cranked really high, I think you should be getting higher minimum FPS than 40.

Is your GPU memory overclocked or does it just look like it? Sry, I'm not familiar with Afterburner. If it is OC'd, turn your GPU memory clock down to stock and see if that helps. Easy check.

The new GDDR5 cards have error-correcting memory. This means that you can OC your GPU memory without getting crashes (as you would with older cards). However, if you OC too much, you'll get so many errors that you'll start taking a performance hit despite the high memory clock.

I am not, I made that mistake with Battlefield initially so I haven't used GeForce Experience.

I'm using the settings that were used in the benchmark posted above, so I don't think AA is the problem. Also, I haven't touched the card as far as overclocking.

Scored 2643 with a FPS of 63.2. In between 90 (R9 290) and 91 (7870x2) on the sheet.

Apparently 8x, I was sure it was on 4x. that seemed to fix the problem in Far Cry, although I'm getting less-than-normal frames in other games. I'll go double check on the settings of those...
