I am totally impressed so far. The game chose 1024x768/ medium on a 2.4GHz OCed mobile XP2500+ and a 400/360 radeon 9800 Pro. I was a bit ticked at that. I then remembered I had the ATI drivers set for 2X/8X AA/AF. I changed them to blend defaults, reconfigured and auto detect still picked the same settings. But I swalled my pride and kept it there; Also used FRAPs while playing. Game looked beatiful and framerates never dropped below 65. Probably averaged over 100fps easily, and was even close to 200 at times. Definately need to adjust the settings for a bit more visual droolness.
Ah, is it me or does this play smoother than the demo? I seriously didn't have 1 hickup in the 45 minutes I played. Honestly not once. wow? Either it's the retail game or the fact I now have 1GB of Ram instead of the 512MB I ran the demo with. But I did run the demo at 1024 high most of the time, so I'll have to do more testing once I boost the details.
Anyway, I'm very pleased so far. Back where you first get the gun, I found it alot of fun just seeing what you can do in it. Like knocking over shelves and standing them up again. or shaking the shelves and watching soda cans drop to the floor with a realistic sound too. Just like the demo, but even better so far. Much smoother too. I'll be curious to try it on a 512MB ram system to see if there is a difference.
Anyone read the faq. Them there are some steep system recomendations/requirements.
