Fast cheap Case!

Compusa everywhere sells a case with 300w power supply and four 5 1\4 inch drive bays for 70$.

Go to 3dfx cool.com buy as many over sized high output fans as you think you need, buy or borrow a Dremel (or some other percission metal cutting tool) install fans from 3dfx and put that extra $ you saved into memory on your dream computer. This what I did instead of spend 400$ on a "High End" case that I knew I could build myself.

I thought about doing something like this, but I had a friend that got a cheap-a$$ case and the crappy power supply fried every component in his computer.

My other thought is that since the case is probably the only part of the computer that will last for more than two years, why bother with a cheap case that will be difficult to assemble/disassemble, hard to work on, cut your fingers, and generally give you headaches. I've decided to get a top quality case and mod it (probably an Addtronics 7896A). I'm not going to remember the extra $100 when I'm installing my Clawhammer system in it a year and a half from now, but I would kick myself if I got a cheap case and had any problems.

I would not buy a cheap power supply either. If you do, whenever anything goes wrong and glitches in the future, you'll always have to suspect bad power, so you'll end up buying a good one anyway :)

Also, a fragile case which makes noise and has little plastic tabs which break off (from experience) is a reall PITA! I now budget $200 for a case for any PC I build.
