I have an old laptop (Acer Aspire 5738Z; eight years old) which I'd like to keep in service as long as I can. I'm trying to find the fastest CPU that I can fit and I've found one thread where someone claims to have succesfully upgraded from the standard T4200 to a T9600. I'm wondering whether the T9800 or T9900 might also be compatible?

The FSB is 800 MHz. According to CPUbenchmark website, the socket for is T4200 is PGA478 while that for T9600 and T9900 is BGA479. I don't know how important that discrepancy is but if the socket is okay for T9600 then it should be okay for T9900? But I realise there's more to this than just slotting in the CPU.

The max TDP of the T4200, T9600 and T9900 are all 35 W so power and cooling should not be a problem. I've not managed to find any information suggesting that T9900 will work though.
