Fault With ATI Sapphire Radeon X850 XT AGP

I just got a ATI Sapphire Radeon X850 XT 256MB DDR3 X850XT AGP video card and am using thes drivers:-

I have tried earlier versions of Catalyst drivers but got the same results.

Problem is the card will not render any transparent surfaces correctly. It produces what amount to small square dots (bit like a smll checker board pattern) all over the surface area in Myst IV for example on any water or Ocean parts. In Swat 4 around areas where police cars lights are flashing, red and blue square dots appear, and in the same game white square dots fill the area around any gun fire.

Anyone had similar effects? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I uninstalled each set of drivers before trying the next set.

Judging by the artifacts that you are getting, the card sounds DOA, I would RMA the card and try with the new one...

Artifacts normally are hardware related not software.

Thanks for the info though not what I wanted to hear. However you confirm what ATI has said. I e-mailed them after posting this post. Very anoying as I am in Australia I'll have to wait another couple of weeks, back to the old faithful Ti 500. O what does RMA stand for? I know I'll kick myself when you tell me.
