Screen: Defiance Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080) [purchased from PC Specialist in the UK mid-2015)
Hello, what is wrong with this screen?
I'm in the process of refurbishing my laptop. Next up on my list is the screen. Occasionally, the screen inverts colours. Equally occasionally, the screen inverts colours and fades out to the "curtain effect" with horizontal lines as shown in the images. If the screen does this when starting with an off or dark screen, there are no lines but it fades to a greeny-white. Often, after the screen returns to normal, the screen flickers around its edges.
This has been occurring for about a year, at least once a week. If I put pressure on the bottom-left corner of the screen, it sometimes temporarily reverts the screen back to normal. Having taken off the LCD screen I can see that that's roughly where the flex cable (?) is attached, however the cable looks relatively secure so I'm unsure if it's the cause of the problem.
I've done some googling and a full LCD replacement is usually the solution... however, I'd rather avoid the expense. Replacement flex cables are somewhat available and worth the price if the fault lies just with the cable.
Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
