FAX and calling card incompatibility in XP

It seems that profiles for calling cards can be made for
FAXing in XP but there is no accesss to the calling card
profiles in the dialing rules. This is stupid. There must
be a missing path from the dialing rules conditions to
the calling card profiles. I can find no connection that
suggests "if this area code" the "use this calling card
profile". Does anyone know if SP2 will fix this problem?

SP2 does not fix this.
You need to see if you can configure a dialing rule that will work instead
of using a calling card configuration that requires a different logon for
the Fax Service. One user in the preceding thread provided an example that
worked for him.

Thanks for the help. I did a different work around which
involved using the entire string as the recipient's FAX
number. I was unaware that commas could be used as two
second pauses nor did I find it in the help files but it
does work. For some reason my system will not use the
string in the long distance access box so I had to insert
the whole thing as the recipient's FAX number. It worked
fine like that.

I am able to access calling card rules. I have XP Home
SP2. Click Control Panel then Phone & Modem Options. A
window comes up with three tabs, the first one being
Dialing Rules. Under that tab you can click "New" for a
new profile or, if you already have one, highlight it and
click "Edit". Now a new window comes up with three tabs.
Go throught the tabs to tell Windows how to treat your
area code, rules, and calling card. Under the Calling
Card tab you will find several card types. I use a Sam's
Club card and had to create my own card info by
clicking "New".

One more thing. I had to have MS Support tier two call me
before I got it solved. I don't know why, but my dialing
rules for my long distance calling card only works when I
have the "Account Number" blank. I put the calling card
number under "Personal Identification Number (PIN)". Then
under the "Long Distance" tab I can using the calling card
steps to tell it what to do. Don't use "Account Number".
I have read other posts about having to use only
the "International" tab and putting the phone number in
the correct format. Windows fax doesn't really allow you
to choose your number format in too many places. For
example, having the number you're dialing look like this:
(123) 555-1212. The access number I entered has no
spaces, dashes or parenthesis. MS Fax now correctly
determines whether I'm dialing local or long distance and
uses the calling card appropriately. Hope this helps.
