Fax Monitor will not appear

I lost my hard drive recently and had to reinstall XP. I
reinstalled the XP fax program and changed the settings
to show the fax monitor for sending and receiving
faxes...but it does not appear. Prior to losing my hard
drive it always popped up. Any ideas what I missed?

A number of standard update and repair procedures disabled the Fax Monitor
in the initial release of Windows XP. These problems were fixed in Service
Pack 1. Make sure you apply SP1 if you notice this problem. The following
