Question File system error check on root partition

How do I check for file system errors in a Debian based Linux system? I'm running Kali Linux and the problem is I'm unable to run the fsck tool in the root partition.

Why you "can't run fsck on root partition"? Any messages?
Boot off USB/CD, and check your Kali partition.

OTOH - if you ask this kind of questions, you have no business tunning Kali.

Yes I'm unable to run on the root partition. Even I tried to run on boot time using a the forcefsck file in the root directory.
